Pune ranks second in the list of most suitable cities to live in cities with a population of over 10 lakh in the country, while Bengaluru has been selected first. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Thursday released the list of Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 & Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has released the list and report. It is noteworthy that in this list, the city of Delhi could not even reach the 10th position in both categories. Delhi was stuck at the 13th position. In the Ease of Living Index, Pune got 66.27 points while Bengaluru got 66.70 points.
The survey was conducted in 111 cities across the country
111 cities in the country participated in the ranking of the best cities to live in. These cities were divided into two categories. The first category included cities with a population of more than 1 million, while the second category included cities with a population of less than 1 million. The ranking is based on how well these cities are habitable, how much work has been done for development, and how it has had a positive impact on people’s lives.
Ranking of cities started in 2018
Cities were ranked for the first time in 2018. This is the second time such a ranking has been announced. There are mainly three issues in this category. It had 15 percent marks for quality of living. Also, 20 percent marks were kept for the stability of development. The remaining 30 per cent marks are given at the end of a survey conducted among the people. There were also 49 indications on the basis of which this ranking has been done.
Including the votes of 32 lakh people
14 categories were created for these cities. These categories include the quality of education in that city, health, housing, sanitation, transportation, security, level of economic development, economic level, environment, buildings, etc. The survey was then conducted among the people of those cities. The survey was conducted from 19 January 2020 to March 2020. 32 lakh 20 thousand people registered their vote in this survey. These opinions have been reported through various channels besides online feedback, QR code, face to face. This ranking has been decided only after that.
