Tragic Accident in Wagholi: 3 Dead, 6 Injured as Drunk Driver Crushes Footpath Sleepers
Wagholi, Pune – A horrifying incident unfolded at Kesanand Phata in Wagholi late at night when a dumper from Bharghav Builtways Enterprises crushed nine people sleeping on a footpath. The incident occurred around 12:30 am, killing three on the spot, including two children and their uncle. Six others were seriously injured, with three in critical condition.
What Happened?
A total of 12 individuals were asleep in the area, some on the footpath and others in nearby huts. The dumper, driven recklessly in a drunken state, veered off the road and ran over the sleeping individuals. Tragically, one-year-old Vaibhavi Ritesh Pawar, two-year-old Vaibhav Ritesh Pawar, and their uncle, Vishal Vinod Pawar, aged 22, lost their lives in this devastating incident.
The injured victims were rushed to Sassoon Hospital in Pune, where three remain in critical condition.

Accused Driver Arrested
The dumper driver, identified as Gajanan Shankar Totre (26 years) from Nanded, has been arrested. Driving a dumper with registration number MH 12 VF 0437, he was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the accident. The police have registered a case of culpable homicide against him, and further investigation is underway.
