Traffic Changes On Pune–Nagar Road On January 1; PMPML To Run Free Bus Services

Due to heavy public movement expected on January 1, the Pune City Traffic Police, Pune Rural Police and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions on Pune–Nagar Road and adjoining routes. The arrangements are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and public safety.

Police officials clarified that vehicles carrying people travelling to Perne village, along with emergency and essential service vehicles, will be exempted from these restrictions.

Traffic Restrictions (Highlighted Points)

  • No vehicle movement on Nagar Road–Kharadi Bypass–Wagholi–Lonikand–Theur Phata–Tulapur Phata–Perne village stretch up to Pune Police Commissionerate limits.
  • Complete restrictions on the route from Markal river bridge to Tulapur Phata via Wagholi, Kesnand Phata, Kesnand village, Magar Vasti, Khandoba Mal and Lonikand.
  • Restrictions on Solapur Road-connected routes, including Theur Phata, Theur village, Kolwadi, Kesnand village, Magar Vasti, Khandoba Mal and Lonikand.
  • Markal bridge closed for heavy vehicles; only authorised light four-wheelers allowed. Other vehicles must use the Wagholi–Shikrapur route.
  • Total ban on vehicle entry between Chakan and Shikrapur in both directions.

Vehicle Diversions (Highlighted Points)

  • Heavy vehicles from Ahilyanagar to Pune/Mumbai diverted via Shirur–Nhavra Phata–Nhavra–Pargaon–Chaufula–Yavat–Hadapsar.
  • Heavy vehicles from Pune to Ahilyanagar diverted from Kharadi Bypass via Hadapsar and Pune–Solapur Highway through Chaufula and Kedgaon, then via Nhavra.
  • Heavy vehicles from Solapur Highway towards Alandi and Chakan diverted through Hadapsar–Magarpatta–Kharadi Bypass–Vishrantwadi.
  • Light vehicles from Mumbai to Ahilyanagar advised to use Vadgaon Maval–Chakan–Khed–Pabal–Shirur route.
  • Alternate route from Mumbai side via Vadgaon Maval–HP Chowk Mhalunge–Vasoli Phata or Biradvadi village–Rohakal Phata–Pune–Nashik Road–Khed–Manchar–Narayangaon–Alephata.

PMPML Bus Services (Highlights)

  • Free PMPML buses on December 31 and January 1
  • December 31:
    • 75 free buses from Lonikand division (4 pm to 4 am)
    • 150 free buses from Shirur division
  • January 1:
    • 250 free buses from Lonikand division (4 am to midnight)
    • 380 free buses from Shirur division
  • Additional paid buses to operate from Pune Station, PMC Bhavan, Dapodi, Dhole Patil Road, Upper Depot and Pimpri Ambedkar Chowk.

Commuters are advised to plan travel in advance and follow traffic police instructions to avoid inconvenience in and around Pune on January 1.
