Lonavala, 31st December 2024: Tourists flocking to Lonavala and Khandala in Pune district to celebrate New Year’s Eve caused heavy traffic congestion on the old Mumbai-Pune highway and in parts of Maval Taluka.
From early morning, families and groups from Mumbai and Pune began arriving in the area, leading to long traffic jams, especially in Khandala and Gawali Wada in Lonavala. Motorists heading towards Mumbai experienced delays due to the increased vehicle density.
Adding to the festive rush, many visitors booked private bungalows, farmhouses, and tents in the picturesque Pawana Nagar area to enjoy celebrations by the serene Pawana Dam backwaters. Special programs and events were organized at various spots to entertain the tourists and enhance their New Year experience.
Despite the traffic, the festive spirit remained high, with families and groups excited to welcome the New Year amidst Lonavala’s scenic beauty.
