Pune: Former Health Minister Tanaji Sawant’s son, Rishiraj Sawant, who was reported missing from Pune Airport on February 10, has returned safely. Pune Police have provided crucial details regarding the incident, confirming that Rishiraj was tracked and brought back to Pune.
Police Investigation and Findings
According to Pune Police Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Rishiraj Sawant had initially left Pune Airport on a private plane bound for Bangkok. As soon as authorities received information about his disappearance, they launched an immediate investigation. Tracking the private aircraft, they were able to ensure his safe return to Pune Airport.
“There were three individuals on board, including Rishiraj Sawant. All of them are safe. However, questions remain about why they were traveling to Bangkok and why they did not inform their families. Further investigation will bring clarity to these aspects,” said Joint Commissioner Sharma during a press conference.
The police have registered a case of kidnapping, and those who accompanied Rishiraj on the flight will also be questioned as part of the probe.
Tanaji Sawant’s Response
Reacting to the incident, Tanaji Sawant clarified that there was no dispute within the family. “There was no argument between us. I was aware that he was with his friends, so calling it a kidnapping is not appropriate. However, he left without informing us, which is why we were concerned. Now that he is back, we will discuss the matter and understand the reason behind his actions,” said Tanaji Sawant.
