Pune PMC Gets New Mayor: Manjusha Nagpure Elected, BJP Retains Power

Pune: A tough and closely watched mayoral election was seen in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), with a strong contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). In the end, BJP emerged victorious and retained control of the PMC, while NCP had to face defeat.

Senior BJP corporator Manjusha Nagpure has been elected as the new Mayor of Pune. Along with her, Parshuram Wadekar will take charge as the Deputy Mayor.

Three-Time Corporator Gets Top Post

Manjusha Nagpure, who represents the Sinhagad Road area, has been elected as a corporator for the third consecutive term. After years of consistent political work, she has now received one of the highest honours in Pune’s civic administration. Her supporters and party workers celebrated the moment with great enthusiasm.

Elected Unopposed from Ward No. 35

Notably, BJP secured two unopposed seats in Pune. From Ward No. 35 (Sun City–Manik Baug), Manjusha Nagpure was elected unopposed, while Shrikant Jagtap won unopposed from Ward No. 35-D. Among these, Manjusha Nagpure has now been chosen for the mayor’s post.

NCP Keeps Its Word

Political circles are also discussing that the NCP honoured the assurance given earlier by Ajit Pawar, which played a role in the final outcome of the mayoral election.

With Manjusha Nagpure taking charge as Mayor, BJP has once again strengthened its position in Pune Municipal Corporation, marking a significant political development in the city.
