A very sad event happened in Maharashtra. A 24-year-old girl from the Wathar police station area killed herself at home on June 12. The police found out that she had an online relationship with a boy named Manish on Instagram. But, after checking her phone, they discovered that Manish was not real. It was a fake identity made by her close friend to mock her.
This friend pretended to be Manish and started a fake relationship with the girl. Then, the friend made up a story about Manish’s death. To make things worse, the friend created another fake Instagram account as Manish’s father, named Shivam Patil, and spread the news of Manish’s fake death. The girl was so heartbroken that she took her own life.
With the help of the Cyber Police from Thane and Satara, and cyber expert Jay Gaikwad, the police traced the fake Instagram accounts back to the girl’s friend. The friend admitted to creating the fake accounts to humiliate the girl.
The police have arrested the friend, who is now in custody. They are warning everyone to be careful on social media and to always verify unknown accounts on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to avoid scams and emotional pain.
