Traffic Changes for Koregaon Bhima Event: Routes Closed, Diversions Announced
Pune city will experience major traffic changes on January 1 due to the 207th anniversary of the Battle of Koregaon Bhima at the ‘Jaystambh’ in Perne village. A large gathering is expected, and Pune Police have issued guidelines, including road closures and diversions, to ensure smooth movement.
Key Traffic Restrictions
- Pune – Ahilyanagar Highway:
- Entry Ban: All vehicles are prohibited from Lonikand to Perne.
- Diversion: Traffic rerouted at Wagholi and Lonikand to alternate routes.
- Parking: Visitors coming from Pune should park at Perne-Tulapur Phata.
- Shikrapur to Koregaon Bhima:
- Entry Ban: All vehicles restricted.
- Allowed Till: Vehicles from Marathwada districts can travel up to Shikrapur.
- Pune-Solapur Road:
- Access via: Theoor and Kesnand villages.
- Parking: Vehicles to be parked at Khandobacha Mala; entry to Perne is restricted.
- Mumbai Side Traffic:
- Route: Vehicles can travel via Talegaon Dabhade and Chakan Road to Shikrapur.
- Parking: Available at Shikrapur. Beyond this point, traffic is blocked.
- Nashik-Pune Highway:
- Route: Vehicles to proceed from Alandi Phata to Lonikand via Markal and Tulapur.
- Lohegaon Route:
- Restriction: Vehicles from Wagholi to Vishrantwadi via Lohegaon are banned from the afternoon of December 31 till January 1.
Special Arrangements
- Parking Lots: A total of 45 parking lots are prepared across routes leading to Perne.
- Public Transport: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses will transport visitors to the Jaystambh and Vadhu Budruk village. About 650 buses will be available for this purpose.
- Police Appeal: Citizens are urged to avoid using the Pune – Ahilyanagar highway on January 1 to minimize traffic congestion.
