However, as he grew older, he was unable to travel. One night, the Goddess appeared in his dream and told him, “If you cannot come to me, I will come to you and stay near you.” She guided him to a mountain in the North-West of Pune, instructing him to dig there. Miraculously, he discovered a Swayambhu (self-manifested) idol of the Goddess. He then built the temple at that spot, which has been renovated over time into the present-day Chaturshringi Temple.

The name Chaturshringi (Chattu means four) means ‘four peaks,’ signifying the temple’s location on a mountain with four peaks. The temple stands 90 feet high and 125 feet wide, representing power and faith. To reach the main shrine, devotees must climb more than 100 steps, symbolizing their spiritual journey. The temple complex also houses idols of Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha, and eight miniature idols of Ashtavinayaka spread across four separate hillocks. Additionally, the temple of Vetal Maharaj is located at the Baner-Pashan end.
