Garden Vadapav, Pune Camp – A Legendary Street Food Experience

If you are a true Punekar or a visitor exploring the street food culture of Pune, one place that should be on your list is Garden Vadapav Center. Located at Buttee Street in Camp, this iconic food cart has been serving delicious vada pavs since 1972 and continues to attract food lovers from all over the city.

The Legacy of Garden Vadapav

Started by Kashinath Naiku and his mother, Parvati Naiku, Garden Vadapav began as a small roadside stall opposite JJ Garden. Named after the garden itself, this humble joint initially sold vada pavs at just 25 paise. Over the years, the business has grown, and today, it is managed by Naiku’s four sons—Rajendra, Sanjay, Narendra, and Deepak.

While the original cart still operates in Pune Camp, Garden Vadapav has also expanded to a brick-and-mortar outlet in Erandwane, near Nal Stop.

What Makes Garden Vadapav Special?

The vada pav at Garden Vadapav Camp is known for its authentic taste, consistency, and high-quality ingredients. Unlike other vada pav joints, their vadas are flatter and longer, ensuring that they fit perfectly inside the pav. The pavs are custom-made in a local bakery, and the vadas are fried in refined groundnut oil using freshly ground besan (gram flour).

Each vada pav (₹17) is generously smeared with a spicy green chutney, filled with a crispy, hot vada, and served with fried green chillies, pickled lemon, chopped onions, and crispy churra (fried besan batter bits). To balance the spiciness, many customers opt for masala taak (₹10)—a buttermilk infused with cumin, coriander, and boondi.

A Must-Visit for Foodies

On any given day, the stall is bustling with customers, with close to 2,000 vada pavs sold daily. Despite the heavy rush, the service is quick, and the wait is never more than 15 minutes. Whether you are a long-time vada pav lover or someone looking to experience Pune’s street food, Garden Vadapav Camp is a must-visit spot.
